Review: Reflected in You

Reflected in You by: Sylvia Day

Title: Reflected in You
Author: Sylvia Day
Series: Crossfire #2
E-Book

Gideon Cross. As beautiful and flawless on the outside as he was damaged and tormented on the inside. He was a bright, scorching flame that singed me with the darkest of pleasures. I couldn't stay away. I didn't want to. He was my addiction... my every desire... mine.

--------------

Quick Summary: Continuing story of Giddeon and Eva are back. While trying to deal with personal issues,  bigger things are out to destroy this relationship.

My Review: Oh my, my, my. Where to start?!?!? I was frustrated with alot of this book and still couldn't seem to put the thing down. I knew there was something big going on but I couldnt put my finger on it. I did not predict the twist in this story though in hindsight I probably should have. I just found myself riding Eva's emotions with her and it put my head in a hazy cloud. I was having a hard time stepping back and seeing the bigger picture. While this was incredibly frustrating, it was also enjoyable.

The plot in this story is very impressive and I love how so many little pieces built such a big picture. It made me look at my life and realize a few things honestly. Little pieces I missed cause I was caught in that hazy cloud of emotions, love and trust take so much effort and focus that sometimes you dont see other things that are going on till far after the fact.

I am kinda all over the place with this review and I apologize. I have a hard time explaining without spoiling and there was so much to this book. If you loved the first one and find this one hard to get into please just truck on through the ending is SOOOO worth it.

The only small issue I have other than the frustration due to events and emotions, is the writing. I feel it was a bit drawn out and sometimes a bit repetitive with certain concepts. I see now where that might have been necessary but it made reading more difficult at the time.

Future Novels:
All in all a great story and I am anxious for the finale in Entwined in You which I will be reading soon!!

Happy Reading. And Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Review: Shiver of Light

Shiver of Light by: Laurell K. Hamilton
Series: Merry Gentry #9
Genre: Adult, Fantasy, Paranormal
Publication Date: 06/03/2014
Audiobook
12hrs 42 Minutes

Merry Gentry, ex-private detective, now full-time princess, knew she was descended from fertility goddesses, but when she learned she was about to have triplets, she began to understand what that might mean. Infertility has plagued the high ranks of faerie for centuries. Now nobles of both courts of faerie are coming to court Merry and her men, at their home in exile in the Western Lands of Los Angeles, because they will do anything to have babies of their own.

I waited so long for another Merry novel. I have always enjoyed this series and I just couldn't see the last book being the end. This could just be me being selfish cause I love the story so much but I wanted to see more of what happens after the happily ever after. This book did not disappoint though I cant say its the best novel in the series. I enjoyed the story and I am once again crossing my fingers that this is not the end of the story!!

I was kinda surprised about the limited amount we see of other characters. This book is highly focused on Merry and how she has developed since the last novel. Both in magic and in power, building her new kingdom. You see a little character development in the men and quite a bit in the queen for the little we see of her. I found myself more upset with the loss we experience in this novel then I really expected to.

The pacing and plot in this book was very typical of Laurell K. Hamilton's books. This is in no way a bad thing just you start to see a trend after reading so many of her novels. I can say the same about Piers Anthony and he is one of my favorite authors ever!

Looks like another wait and see....

My Teaser:
"Scales graced almost the entire back of her body, trailing down into the tiny diaper. They weren't the rainbow scales of a snake like Kitto had on his back, but more like the wide, delicate scales on a butterfly or moth wing, except these were impossibly large, bigger than any natural butterfly on the planet."

Review: Lover Awakened

Lover Awakened by: J. R. Ward

Title: Lover Awakened
Author: J. R. Ward
Series: Black Dagger Brotherhood #3
E-Book

A former blood slave, the vampire Zsadist still bears the scars from a past filled with suffering and humiliation. Renowned for his unquenchable fury and sinister deeds, he is a savages feared by humans and vampires alike. Anger is his only companion, and terror is his only passion-until he rescues a beautiful aristocrat from the evil Lessening Society.

Bella is instantly tranced by the seething power Zsadist possesses. But even as their desire for one another begins to overtake them both, Zsadists thirst for vengeande against Bella's tormentors drives him to the brink of madness. Now, Bella must help her lover overcome the wounds of his tortured past, and find a future with her.

-------------------------
Quick Summary: While saving Bella, she saves Zsadist.

My Review:

My absolute favorite part of this story is the character progression. I really seem to enjoy when a broken and battered person can come back and be an even better person. This novel was slightly less captivating to my tastes than the last but I still found myself staying up late reading it. I think I finished this one at 2 in the morning. I guess its a good thing my hubby is working nights :) Outside of the main romance story that saves a man from his tortured past and a woman from a life she is not interested in, there is story progression with other characters. I have a large curiousity about John and how it will work out with him.

We see some big changes in this novel that I see affecting future novels very deeply. I still get bored easily with the lessors chapters and find myself skimming quite a bit through these parts. One thing I can tell you is you can read this book without reading the lessor chapters but you get more information if you do.

Future Novels:

The next story in this series is Lover Revealed. I have decided not to read the summary before starting the book which I won't be doing immediately as I have a ton of other things to read to and need to bounce around some :) Though I am sure I will be back at it in short order, I really love this series. I am really hoping Lover Revealed is going to be about Vishous, but based on the title I think Phury has a good chance of being the protagonist.

Until next time...

Review: Lover Eternal

Lover Eternal by: J.R. Ward

Title: Lover Eternal
Author: J.R. Ward
Series: The Black Dagger Brotherhood #2
E-book
Pgs. 446

Within the brotherhood Rhage is the vampire with the strongest appetites. He;s the best fighter, the quickest to act on his impulses, and the most voracious lover-for inside him burns a ferocious curse cast by the Scribe Virgin. Owned by this dark side, Rhage fears the time when his inner dragon is unleashed, making him a danger to everyone around him.
Mary Luce, a survivor of many hardships is unwittingly thrown into the vampire world and reliant on Rhage's protection. With a life-threatening curse of her own, Mary is not looking for love. She lost her faith in miracles years ago. But when Rhage's intense animal attraction turns into something more emotional he knows that he must make Mary his alone. And while their enemies close in, Mary fights desperately to gain life eternal with the one she loves.

---------------------------

Quick Summary: Rhage is lonely, Mary uses her illness as an excuse to be alone. When the two come together they may just be what saves the other.

My Review:

This has to be one of the best books ever!! I really liked the first Black Dagger Brotherhood novel but this one is much more enticing. I liked the fact that Mary did not just fall into bed with Rhage immediately as Beth did with Wrath. Loved Loved Loved the progression of the characters and the events they went though. Oh and that finale!! I could not put this book down, stayed up till two in the morning to finish it. I even squealed out loud at times. Immediately texted my sister when I completed the book and ordered her to read it!! I highly recommend anyone who likes a bit of paranormal with their romance to try this one on for size. I would also like to state that though reading them in order will give you more background on the characters, it IS NOT necessary. This book could have very easily been a single novel and not part of a series.

Future Novels:

There is plenty more and I can't wait to delve in. Well actually I already have Lover Awakened is up next!!

Happy Reading!!
